This area is part of the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo that includes the enormous Palermo parks, the elegant Palermo Chico which is home to embassies and luxury homes, Palermo Hollywood and the botanical zone.

Palermo Soho retains traces of its former self, a quiet and working class neighborhood, lined with trendy shops and restaurants. It is one of the most pleasant neighborhoods of the city to stroll around, drink, eat and buy designer objects. Designer shops are abundant in this area, whether for clothing, furniture or trinkets.

There are no monuments or historical buildings to see but there is the Plaza Cortázar (or Little Serrano Plaza) at the intersection of Honduras and Borges, lined with bars. On Saturdays and Sundays there is an artisan fair in the plaza.

Borges lived with his family in Serrano 2147, in a house that no longer exists. Only a plaque commemorates the site, but the location will never be forgotten. On that block, surrounded by Guatemala, Serrano, Paraguay and Gurruchaga streets, is the origin of his poem Fundación mítica de Buenos Aires.

Here is a video of Palermo. Music and images present a clear picture of the bohemian vibe of the area.
